DJ and VJ collective that presented live collections of sounds and videos.
GinSonic was a collective of two DJ’s and a VJ (me). During the collective existence we performed several times in public and were very well welcomed by various audiences.
I video sampled hundreds of small clips from old films selected by Dario Oliveira and created a library ready to use in live video sampling. All clips kept their sound track and was played on top of the music being played by the DJ’s.
I also designed several logos and graphic elements to go along the video clips acting as separators or little “commercials” between video clips.
The result was a well branded performance that delivered a complete experience rooted in the 70’s visual and musical universe.
GinSonic’s influences came mainly from the 70′s and where well related to cinema and music from that time. The first public appearance was at the closing of the Curtas short film festival in Vila do Conde, Portugal in 2002.
